COVID 19 RESPONSE

Updated 8/22/20 changes are in red text

We are so excited to welcome our dancers back to the studio! In order to keep the health and safety of our studio family as our number one priority, we have put new procedures in place. Please read over them carefully, review them with your dancer, and let us know if you have any questions!

We have always limited our class sizes, but for our 2020-2021 season we are reducing that number even further. Classes will be limited to 10 students, so with an instructor and assistant where needed, there will be no more than 12 people in the room.

There will be certain times that masks will be required of all students and instructors. These times include:
  • When waiting outside to enter class
  • While entering class
  • While changing shoes
  • When moving to a new spot in the room
  • When leaving class
Students will have the option to remove their mask when doing strenuous exercises, and while students are more than six feet apart. Instructors will let students know when it is ok to take their mask off, and when it needs to stay on. If dancers consistently have issues following directions related to their mask, their instructor has the right to remove them from the class until they are able to comply. These guidelines are to help protect all of our dancers, instructors, and families, and we appreciate your assistance!

To help limit the number of people in the building, the lobby will be closed. We encourage families to help their dancer start building independence by letting them know that you will walk them to the door, and will wait for them outside until class is over. For our younger students who may not yet be quite ready for their parents to drop them off at the door, we will allow one adult per family in the lobby during class time. Anyone in the lobby must wear a mask. Parents can wait outside, in their cars, or may drop your dancer off and return at the end of class. We will provide a link for parents to tune in to a live stream of class.

When you arrive, please wait in your car or on the sidewalk until you see your child’s teacher come outside. Students can come to the sidewalk on their own, or they can be walked over by an adult.

Students should have their first pair of dance shoes in their hand, on their feet, or easily accessible at the top of their bag. The rest of their dance shoes should be in their dance bag. For age 3-4, 5-6, 6-8, and 8-12 classes, students will need their ballet shoes first. Students will receive hand sanitizer, and then be given an assigned, socially distanced spot to sit and begin putting on their first pair of shoes. Once dancers have their shoes on, their instructor will send them to put their bag in a cubby before returning to their assigned spot.

When it is time to change shoes, dancers will sit on their spot to remove their shoes, and will be sent one at a time to get a drink, and grab their next pair of shoes. Dancers will return to their assigned spot to begin putting on their change of shoes. At the end of class, dancers will sit on their assigned spot to remove their shoes, and will be sent one at a time to get all of their belongings. They will receive hand sanitizer, and then will come to the marked spots on the sidewalk. Students can be met outside by a parent, or older students can walk to their cars on their own.

Bathrooms will be for emergencies only. Please encourage your dancers to use the bathroom before coming to the studio.

The water fountain will be closed. Students must bring their own water to class.

Once students have been dismissed, all touched surfaces will be disinfected before the next class enters the building.. Any class items or props that are used will be sanitized before they are used by anyone else.

Students will receive hand sanitizer frequently as needed during class time.

Parents are responsible for monitoring their dancer’s health before coming to class. This includes COVID-19 symptoms, as well as any other contagious illnesses. By bringing your dancer to class you are ensuring us that your dancer is free from any contagious symptoms. We appreciate your diligence in keeping your dancer home if they are not feeling well!

If a student or instructor tests positive for COVID-19, that class will happen virtually for the next two class meetings. If a member of a student’s household tests positive, that student will need to attend class virtually for the next two class meetings to avoid any potential exposure.

The current pandemic, and our knowledge of COVID-19 is always changing. Our procedures will be updated as necessary to minimize risk to our studio family as much as possible.
